Balance - The Natural Element

If you are trying to achieve a natural look and feel with hair extensions, hair weaves, hair replacements or any other method of adding hair, you should adhere to one principle: "The Art of Balance."

Skilled hairdressers are all too familiar with this principle. No matter how abstract a hairstyle may be, it should be balanced. The same holds true when adding hair or applying hair extensions, hair weaves or any hair replacement techniques. Every area of your hair should have an equal "hair density." Think of it this way: if you hung upside down (not that you would) every area of your entire head should be the same density. Instead of hanging upside down, try what I call "The Blind Test": Close your eyes and slowly run your fingers through your hair. If you feel slight or dramatic shifts in densities that would mean you have an in-balance. You should also perform this same test if you are wearing commercial hair—such as a hair extension, weave, replacement, hair system, etc...

Perform the "The Blind Test" to find out if you have any in-balances. (Areas with different densities then other areas)

You can compensate or hide these in-balances of hair densities by talented cutting and styling techniques, although the most effective way to get perfect results, meaning a perfect balance of hair, is to add exact percentages of hair in specific areas that will cause each area to become the same density.

If you find you have an even density of hair covering your entire head, then you are in luck—providing you are satisfied with the overall volume of hair. If you’re not satisfied, then you’d need to consider adding an even amount of hair over your entire head to create balance. In either situation, it is tricky to find a hair extension, weave or replacement technique that creates perfect balance. So be aware, most Hair Extension, Weaves and Hair Systems, etc. do not add hair in a balanced form. Why, all of these methods add hair in some sort of row, clump or section. This creates an in-balance. Conversely, if hair was added literally one human hair at a time, and evenly dispersed, this would cause a balance of density therefore creating extremely natural results with much more flexibility.

The basic idea is to add specific amounts of hair, meaning less is some areas and more in others, until each area or areas are all the same in density. Hair extensions, weaves and other hair systems create additional hair length and/or fullness and give good results but because these methods can not add hair in an even dispersed manner they lack flexibility or the ability to do anything with your hair.

How to achieve the perfect balance?

  1. Find a hair extension technique or other hair system (i.e. method of adding hair) that adds hair one strand at a time. Reason, this will create no sudden surges of hair or hair clumps. This is the first element to achieving "Balance".
  2. The hair system must allow the technician applying the hair to add different amounts of hair in specific areas. For example, you might need to add only 10% volume in one area, 45% in a second area, and 60% in a third area—but the finished look will allow you to pass the "Blind Test."
  3. Beware – avoid hair addition systems that rely on “draping” long hair over thin areas. This is the equivalent of a "comb-over" and will give you trouble when the wind blows. It will look as if you are wearing hair—or as if you have a strange hairstyle.

So remember, the finer the method of adding hair, the better off you will be. Try to find a hair addition system that adds one human hair at a time—or comes close. Also, look for a system that adds different percentages of hair in various spots on your head. There is hair system in existence that follows these critical principles. The component of this hair system that makes this possible is something called the Blending Strand®.

This Blending Strand® is an advance technology that not only follows these critical principles but also is known to be the most invisible way of adding hair. When this Blending Strand® invention is placed onto the scalp or skin it virtually disappears into the skin, and then due to the fact of only one real hair at a time coming out of this Blending Strand® the hairs will appear as if they are growing out of the scalp. The transparency and light weight of this Blending Strand® makes the wearer feel as if there is nothing there, therefore having an extremely natural feel and appearance. Knowing the principles of balance will really make a difference in your life. Try "The Blind Test" and see what I mean.
